This & That: Royal Inspiration

In light of the recent arrival of the royalbaby, I thought it might be great to put together a this&that board that carries a royal feel to it. Looking at this lovely saree from the Tarun Tahiliani Couture Exposition 2013, i couldn’t imagine anything more royal than this. The pairing of the pearls with the high collar saree blouse scream royalty.

I imagine the room to be a lovely hunter green with grandesque chandeliers. If you’re planning a hindu wedding, just substitute the white with red and maintain the look of the saree blouse and keep the pearls.

Hindu Bridal Saree

In a Tamil Hindu wedding, the bride wears two sarees. The first saree is the ‘manavara’ saree and the second saree, given to her by the groom and his family, is the ‘koorai’ saree. Finding the right manavara and koorai saree is always a difficult task. You want to make sure the type of silk you wear hugs your curves beautifully and gives you the hour glass shape and the color compliments your skin. Most often the two sarees are kancheepuram silk.

If you are stuck on picking the right color, get your friends to help you select a colour that compliments your skin. Always go saree shopping during the day – you need the light to see the real colours of the saree against your skin. Here are some colours to consider:
