Opium Dream: Sabyasachi Delhi Couture 2013 Collection

Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee showcased his opium-inspired collection last week in PCJ Delji Couture Week. It’s been said that this collection took him around two-and-a-half months to create and the inspiration comes from the 1920’s era.

The collection included a variety of fabrics – khadi from West Bengal, lots of tulle from France, velvet, lace and so on forth. The entire collection was very evening and glamorous. The colors were soft and muted. It was a lot of monotones and liquid golds as the fashion scene moves away from contrast. The collection included an array of silhouettes in addition to sarees. Jewellery included collectibles from the 1800s and 1900s.

I can’t stop drooling over the beautiful collection and dreaming of one day wearing a Sabyasachi saree to my wedding.
